Tom was born and raised in Laurel Gardens and is 1 of 11 children. He has strong roots in the local community and is a 1973 graduate of North Hills High school. He has lived on the same street his whole life, which is the same street the shop is on today. He has been married for 35 years and has 2 grown children who are both actively involved in the company as well as his wife Cindy. Tom has been in the business for over 40 years and has worked at such places as Federal Tire, Trutred Tire, and Skander Tire before opening LGTS in 1991. He is a member of St. Teresa of Avila church in Perrysville where he has been an Alter Server, Eucharist Minister and a 4th Degree Knight of Columbus. He works the church bingos every Thursday as well as volunteering at the church festival and fish fry. Tom has also been a firefighter at Laurel Gardens VFC for over 40 years. He makes sure to stay connected to the community by supporting both the Fire Hall and the American Legion down the street.
Cindy has been at the helm of the shop since its inception. In 1972 Cindy moved from Plum to Laurel Gardens along with her parents and 9 siblings. It was that same year that she met and fell in love with her high school sweetheart and our owner Tom. They have been inseparable ever since! She is a 1976 graduate of North Hills High School and is very involved in the local community. On most days you can find Cindy in our back office dealing with our book keeping. Cindy is a member of St. Teresa of Avila church in Perrysville and very active in the community.
Tina, like her brother, has been a part of the shop from the very beginning, when she use to drive her little tikes car in to get its tires checked. She has spent a few days down in the garage over the years but has mainly helped out in our office. She attended Mount Alvernia High School in Millevale where she was a member of the National Honor Society. After graduating high school in 2007, Tina attended Seton Hill University in Greensburg, where she majored in Business and minored in Finance. During her senior year at Seton Hill she began interning at Ketchum Inc in Pittsburgh. She was hired there full time right after graduation and worked in both the Accounts Receivable and Billing departments as a Client Accounting Coordinator. After six years with the company her job was outsourced and Tina decided to return home to the family business. Tina is very involved in the social media and PR of the company as well as helping with the paperwork and working the front counter making sales.
Jay is not a Laurel Gardens native, but he is from the area. He is a graduate of Hampton High School and he now resides in West View with his wife Angie. Jay began his journey with us in 2001, when he started working as a tire changer in the garage. He quickly became garage manager and then moved his way up to the office and is now one of our Salesmen. Jay is an avid sports fan.
Dan started working for us in October of 2010 as a tire changer. He quickly became the garage manager thanks to his positive attitude and work ethic. He briefly attended North Hills High School and he currently resides in Ross Twp. When we were in need of a new salesman we knew that Dan would be perfect for the job. He has been a great addition to our office staff and we look forward to seeing what the future holds for him.
